Role of Media in Educating our Voters

Now that election is less than a year away, voters' education should be given more attention especially our media, newspaper, tv and radio stations. Considering the reach of radio, more time should be devoted to informing the listeners how they should select the candidates they should vote for. Basic criteria on the selection of the leaders who should lead the country, on the national, provincial and local levels should be set up, explained in the way that they are properly understood by their listeners. The profile of each candidate should be presented in relation to the criteria set. They should not be presented in the way the candidates want them to be, especially, when it becomes too biased in their favor. The broadcasters, radio or tv, should not impose their own perception of any candidate but present all sides, positive or negative about the canditate. There should definitely be a balance on the presentation for all.
